OzineFest 2015

April 24, 2015 - It's a big day for Anime fans, because OzineFest is now happening for three days from April 24 until Sunday (April 26) in Megatrade Hall at SM Megamall.

I had to start my trip from Laguna to the venue  at 8 AM because last OzineFest was packed with a lot of people who were waiting for the mall to open and dashed right at the top to the Megatrade Hall. Just this morning, I arrived at 10 AM, and when I reached the top floor where the event was, I saw a short line of ticket buyers...or THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT.

A security guard told me that the end of the line was actually a few floors below at the stairs near the event. I was two floors below when I fell in line.

I was one floor apart from the venue when I took this photo
Approximately 45 minutes later, I finally bought a ticket and went inside.

The ticket for this year's OzineFest

This is the main reason why I had to come to this event. My first priority was to search for the Love Live! booth by Onegai Onii-chan and buy official stuff from them.

The Onegai Onii-chan Facebook page announced about this booth days before the event, so I got a pretty bad feeling that fans like me will swarm the place and buy the official merchandise. I had to come to the event on the first day because I figured that I would have lesser competition on my Love Live! hunt because during the weekends I'm sure that more people will come in. By the way, A TRUE FAN ALWAYS BUYS OFFICIAL MERCHANDISE! Ya hear me?

They sell figures, CDs, key straps, posters, School Idol Diaries and a few more. So, Love Live fans in the Philippines, check them out!

This booth was packed with a lot of buyers like me

Random dude trying to pick which one to buy
These are the things which I bought from them. A Kotori Minami figure and a key strap of Rin Hoshizora (Race Queen ver.)

After that, I started looking around what's in the first day of the event.

Seems like they added a bit of traditional Japanese festival in the venue

Goldfish scooping area. I didn't see anyone scooping during my stay there though

Paper Cranes hanging around

I wonder how good the translation will be

They were playing a game here. They had to guess the complete name of the character, which anime are they from and the voice actor.
They were setting up this booth. Still don't want to come in even if it was finished

I saw a lot of funny doodles and shitty messages here

Random doodles
The kawaii old man in a sailor dress

I see you too... *grabs eraser and erases the sh*t out of him

Your senpai is a potato, girls!

Booths ready to sell you stuff. This Red Monster Shop booth is where I bought my Kotori Minami shirt

Then, I checked the figures on display

Kitakami and Ooichi just doing their usual Yuri moments...

...Amatsukaze is not amused though

Aircraft carrier Wo-class, one of my favorites

Kongou ready to fire her Burning Love

Damaged Kongou *nosebleed

Atago be like PAN-PAKA-PAAAAN

Yamato and her BIG guns

Chitoge or Kosaki? I choose...Tachibana

I don't know the entire story of the Fate series, but back at the Guess the character contest, the contestants answered Archer's name as Emiya Shirou. I was mind blown when I checked the wiki.

Angler fish team, Panzer vor!

The Strike Witches are also here. Ready to rule the skies without wearing pants

More Kantai Collection here

Secretary ship Nagato ready to command

Touma and a Misaki clone hitting the game center

Ryuko's beating the drums with her Scissor sword

Koyomi lost the game even though Hanekawa's cheering for him

Index just satiating her hunger

Misaki just doing her usual routine at the vending machine
Adorable Mikan in her school swimsuit?! Medic! I need a medic!

Now for the cosplayers. There were only a few of them just I expected, because it was Friday, and also thanks to the set of rules by the event organizers. No more of those #TeamLabas cosplayers who just cosplay without buying a ticket.

Sinon from Sword Art Online II. Her costume and the Hecate Sniper Rifle is really well-made

Agent HUNK from the Resident Evil series (the game, not he Hollywood movies). I  should've cosplayed as a zombie!

Mikasa Ackerman from Shingeki No Kyojin. Looks like she went in for a hair salon treatment first

Konno Yuuki from Sword Art Online. Her story arc was full of feels

Takanashi Rika from Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai ready to serve Dark Flame Master

A very beautiful girl cosplaying as Kagome from Inuyasha

Tomoya, Nagisa, and her Dangos from the feels story, Clannad

Nozomi Toujo from Love Live! will grope your chest if you get near her

Juvia from Fairy Tale feels lonely without Gray Fullbuster

Link from Legend of Zelda is still searching for Zelda

Kotori Minami from Love Live! *fan boy scream

Kuroneko from Oreimo. Cutest Kuroneko ever!!!

What I think about OzineFest 2015?

I only stayed  in the first day for six hours, so there's only a few to say.

Crowd control was very organized from the start. There was no crowd congestion or whatsoever. I was happy about that. The place was very spacious from inside the Megatrade Hall to the outside at the entrance. No #TeamLabas loitering around. Well it was the first day after all, and it was a Friday. I expect a lot more people to attend during the weekend.

Sad part was, there were still some areas that were still preparing when I went inside like the Horror booth and the cosplayer's changing area. The entire venue should be prepared already before we come in.

I don't know if it's just me, or the event should be a bit more lively. I still enjoyed it though. :3

This year's OzineFest is much better compared to the previous ones. I'm looking forward for another OzineFest!

I'm already happy that I got this from the event! :)

and this ...

...and the shirt!
